Rufus 3 is a 60ft traditional style narrowboat built in 1992 by Jonathan Wilson, the original steel spec is 10/6/4 with 15mm Uxter plates. Hull survey from 2015, 2019 and more recently in Feb 2024 show that good retention of plate material thickness. Last out of the water, blacked and new anodes in 2024.
Engine:
Rufus is powered by a Beta Tug Enigne housed in its own walk through engine room with side doors on either side for ventilation. The enigne room is large enough to be useful for storage and to access the engine for competent servicing. The engine has been well serviced and recent years works include injector service and top end decoke.

Internal:
The boat is fitted out in oak faced ply trimmed in oak and carpeted throughout. Generous headroom means the boat doesn't feel enclosed and the 3 side doors and 2 x roof hatches allow for good ventilation and air flow. The rear cabin consists of 2 x single berths which can be rearranged to make a double berth. With cupboards and storage on both sides.
Followed by the spacious engine room that has room for extra storage, fold up bike etc. In here are the batteries, victron inverter, 240 shore plug etc. The propshaft has recently had the universal joints renewed where it runs under the ear cabin floors.There is a pigeon box offering air and light as well as side doors to port and starboard.
Moving along the boat there is a corridor to starboard. Hand crafted cupboards are fitted below gunwale height to maximise the storage potential.
The Bathroom is offset to port and accessed by means of a sliding door. Here there is a half bath with tiled shower above. A thetford cassette toilet (cassette access through the corridor) and a wash basin with built in cupboard and mirror over.
Onward to the galley and there is a large new shoreline 12volt fridge and good storage built in with hand made cupboards to optimise space, sink and drainer with built in cup washer. A new Gas oven,grill and 4 burner hob.
There is an extendable breakfast bar should it be required on the back of the kitchen worktop leading into the lounge, opening roof hatch and starboard side doors. The lounge has a free standing sofa for comfort and more hand made cabinets built under gunwale. There is a TV and in the opposite corner a morso squirrel stove on a tiled hearth.
The front doors open out onto a tug deck which is currently covered by a cratch and canopy and used as additional storage space, but could easily be removed to give access and a tug appearance the craft.
Hardwood double doors open to reveal the area under the tug deck which is fully insulated and a low level passage with storage on either side leads to the bow cabin. With its own opening roof hatch this whole area makes up to provide a large double bed. There is also an opening hatch onto the tug deck.
Rufus 3 has portholes throughout, offering security and privacy. The sky lights and side doors allow generous ventilation and light.

Rufus has a very traditional look with the mid engine room, forecabin and tug deck, she is easy to handle and has plenty of power for river work etc.
